Of intense ruby red color, aromas are characterized by a highly expressive varietal, with ample notes of red fruits, raspberries and licorice.
On the palate the wine, although still very young, it is balanced, fine, with smooth tannins, good acidity, flavor and mineral notes that give it a long, lingering finish .
Tignanello is produced exclusively from the vineyard that is located on a plot of 57 hectares to the south -west of limestone and tuff, at an altitude between 350 and 400 meters above sea level at the Tenuta Tignanello . It ‘ was the first Sangiovese to be aged in barriques, the first modern red wine blended with non-traditional varieties such as Cabernet, and among the first red wines made in the Chianti region without the use of white grapes. Tignanello, originally “ Chianti Classico Riserva Tignanello vineyard ” was vinified for the first time from a single vineyard in the year 1970, when it contained 20 % Canaiolo and 5% Trebbiano and Malvasia, and was aged in small barrels oak . With the 1971 vintage has become table wine of Tuscany and was named Tignanello, and with the 1975 vintage, white grapes were totally eliminated . Since 1982, the composition has remained the same as today . Tignanello is produced only in the best vintages, was not produced in 1972, 1973.1974, 1976, 1984, 1992 and 2002
